Effects of an interval exercise training and Tamoxifen or Letrozole treatment on the immunity parameters, some physical fitness factors, and quality of life of women with non-metastatic breast cancer

Phase II

Summary :

The primary objective of our study is to determine the effects of an interval exercise training on blood immunity parameters in early (non-metastatic) breast cancer .Women in the age range of 30 to 60 years and on hormonal therapy are included. Based on tamoxifen or letrosol treatment ,patients seperated to two groups. Each group assigned to an exercise or control arm by using block- randomization method. Number of patients in each of 4 groups would be 30. Exercise arms participated in a course of structured aerobic fitness and strength training three times per week for 12 weeks. The control arm did not train. Other aims of study are exercise effects on physical fitness and quality of life of patients. Assessment of changes of blood immune factors, fitness, rehabilization and quality of life are conducted prior and upon completion of the program. The blood sample is obtained to measure HSP70, INF-y, IL-4, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, CD4, CD8, and cortisol levels as immunity parameters. Aerobic power will be calculated by formula. The Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy (FACT) and Questionnaire for Cancer Rehabilitation Evaluation System (CARES) are used for estimation of quality of life.
